REMEMBER… dogs
have lived for centuries, side by side with humans, eating the same kind
of food. The PWD, lived
with fishermen that ate mostly bread and vegetable with a little, very
little FISH. MEAT, mainly chicken, rabbit or port, was only used on
special occasions by the
FISHERMAN. SO… Much has been
written on the subject, much has been speculated about the right way to
feed our dogs. I am sure that
each and everyone has the right answer, the right Formula. Indeed we all
know what we give our dogs, but can we really trust all those expertly
written labels, brilliant pieces of marketing?
There can be more than meets the eye. My advice is a simple one! Use your common sense. Change… change the brand every time you get a new bag. If you cook for your dog, change … change the ingredients: Rice, flower corn, bread or pasta with a little fish, beef, poultry or lamb. Provide the right amount of oils - cod liver oil, corn oil or olive oil. Calcium, vitamins and minerals too. By changing your
dogsdiet you are giving him the change of eliminating any hidden
"toxins". Bones?
Only occasionally , as they can be dangerous. Last and most important, is the water your dog has been drinking. You worry about your dog's diarrhea! Why not, firstly, worry about the water before you fill him up with antibiotics and end up with a fat bill… and a sick dog. Relax! Not all is inherited or due to a pre-disposition of whatever it may be called. IBD INFLAMATORY
BOWEL DISEASE OR LYMPHOETIC GASTROINTERITIS OR LYPHANGIECTASIA. I have been
through it all and I have found out that most of the problems lay in
what they eat or drink. Don't be obsessed
by the paranoie idea that all that happens to your dog is inherited and
don't blame it on your dog or his breeder. A few years back
owners and breeders worried about their dogs having SEIZURES and later
it was found that what it looked like Epileptic fits was injury to the
brain nerves caused by a Protein present in Bread or
precisely in the flour when bleached with NITROGEN TRICHLORIDE - AS
SIMPLE AND AS DANGEROUS AS THAT. More recently BSE
- BOVINE SPONGIFORM ENCEPHALOPATHY has been mentioned by the press
stating that dogs as well as other animals can develop a form of BSE.
Cases have been reported in the U.K., Denmark and the U.S.A.
In England the Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed that studies
carried out in 1991 were never published as dogs presented no threat to
humans or animal health. Dogs are not eaten! … in England anyway!
But see in my site - where all the bodies end up. SO… I wonder how many dogs have been diagnosed and treated for something else leading to their deaths! I wonder again, how many breeders as a consequence have been given a BAD NAME. … and as life goes on our dogs carry on undisturbed by those phantoms that hound our minds!
